The teacher finds small samples of the rocks listed on the one sheet of paper called the Rock Collection. By wrapping each rock in a towel and striking it with a hammer, small splinters are made available to the students. Working from the desks, they are allowed to come to a display table which the teacher has set  up.  On that table are the splinters rock sample, each one properly identified. The students can use forceps or fingers to select one splinter at a tie, carry in back to their seat, and glue it in the appropriate space.
