Notice that Blackboard is drawn to correspond one-to-one with the blank Graphic Organizers given to the students.  This assignment is really for practice and introduction to the lesson.  A printed form in the booklet will replace the students' rough hand copied paper.
The photocopied printed page is given to each student at the conclusion of the lesson.  That page will be folded and inserted in the other pages of the Lotus Leaf Notebook they are constructing.

The sudents copy these notes from the blackboard onto a blank LINT Graphic 2-D Graphic Organizer as shown below:

GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS ARE POWERFUL OVERVIEW PICTURES

The students are encouraged to us felt tips, crayons, colored pencils, or water paints to emphasize the separate groupings on the page and to high lite important key words.  This activity allows the teacher to act as a facilitator, while using the opportunity to also explain the relationships between the concepts on the pages.  The whole class can be directed to color specific areas of the organizer, especially those which may be useful to the instructions concerning the specific cognitive material.  Or, the teacher has the freedom to allow the students to be artistic independent. This often has the advantage of making a personal connection between the lessons and the growing notebook they are constructing.

HANDS-ON MODIFIES BEHAVIOR!

Practice sketching the Graphic Organizer by following the directions below.  Teachers will find the Blackboard useful in 2-D reference to the 3-D project the students are constructing.  Students who are taught to draw the graphic organizer on paper can be tested in that format by asking them to reproduce Key words and perhaps write short explanations in regard to what the graphics are conveying.

The students decorate and color the Graphic Organizer in ways which relate the number sets to one another, or to personalize this construction project they are working on.

When finished, each page is folded the same way and tucked inside the last leaflets which are collecting themselves into a thick Lotus Leaf Notebook.
