SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS ESPECIALLY
NEED THIS MANUAL TEACHING AID

Students are instructed to mark the fingers on each hand as shown, 6-10, using water-based colored markers or even Ball Point Pen.
When two fingers are touched together, they multiple those two numbers.
The answer to that multiplication problem is found by counting ten for each of the two touching fingers, and adding ten more for each and every finger below them.
To this sum is added the result of multiplying the fingers above the left hand by the fingers above on the right hand.
(Note that students must be capable of multiplication of the Four Tables and below).

Down load this page and pass it around to other teachers.  The schools are fill with students not yet confident in their Number Tables.  Test your students out by spotting around the classroom and simply asking a few of the Times Tables to find those kids who are puzzled when you ask them 8X7 or 6X8.

Even when the whole class is fluent in their arithmetic, they are intrigued by this method of discovering the correct answer to such questions.
They appreciate the encouragement that they use this new insight to teach their younger siblings or even friends who they know are weak in this skill.

The amazing use of the fingers to do this counting has been an esteem builder for kids who have become psychologically blocked by their own embarrassment at failure to learn the Times Tables.  It has been field tested to show that Special Ed children in High School have finally been able to learn the Tables by simply practicing the Tables and double checking for themselves until they come to know them by memory.
