Both Elijah and Jesus performed the same signs for the people of their day.

1) Elijah never dies, hence was and is immortal. So is Jesus.

2) Elijah expected to raise up korah, the clan that opposed Moses, (The Law), in the Sinai.

The Pharisees were always upset, that the "Law" seemed violated, again and again by Jesus.

3) Elijah, on his return, would drink from the traditional Elijah Cup (kiddush) = Eucharist, at the last "Seder."

4) Elijah was born having NEITHER mother or father. Jesus appears miraculously AGAIN, without a father.

5) Elijah and Jesus BOTH disappeared into Heaven from the foot of a mountain.

6) Elijah and Jesus BOTH did unbelievable miracles.

7) Elijah and Jesus BOTH raised the dead.

(1 Kings 17:22)

(Jhn 12:1)

8) Both walked on water.

9) Both feed the people by multiplying the available food.

(1 Kings 17:14)

(Mar 8:19)

10) Both wrote "letters" after they had ascended into heaven.

Mat 3:16    And Jesus, (the son of man), when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens (of his mind) were opened unto him, (in this ritual of Plerosis), and he saw (the Holy Ghost), the  Spirit of God, (Elijah), descending like a dove, (the immortal Elijah), and lighting upon him, (in a ritual of Plerosis filling by the indwelling spirit of Elijah):

Mat 3:17   And lo a voice from heaven, saying, "This,  (as of now), is my, beloved Son," (the immortal Elijah),...

Though Israel would be the focus of many fulfilled prophecies, most Jews would remain blind to the fact that Jesus is their Messiah until the very end: (Luke 19:41-42; Luke 13:34-35; Romans 11:25-26).

(Return to Rev 19)

Mal. 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh (in 1939 AD), that shall burn as an (Holocaust)oven; and all the proud (Rabbi), yea, and all (the secular Jews) that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD, (crucified)of (1.44 billion Christian) hosts, that it shall leave them neither root (in Israel) nor branch (in their diaspora).

Mal. 4:2 But unto you (Christians) that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness:[Rev 12:1], (American Evangelical Christianity), arise (in the New World) with healing (for the Jews) in his wings (of Democratic freedom: [Rev 12:14]); and ye (American Jews:)shall go forth (into a Hebrew-Christianity), and grow up as calves (transplanted:[Rev. 4:7]) of the (new) stall (in American Jewry).

Mal. 4:3 And ye (American Jews) shall tread down the wicked (who ddid twist the scripture), for they shall be ashes (from the Holocaust) under the soles of your feet(supporting interpretations of this prophesy: [Gen 22:13]) in the day, (2K25), that I shall do this, saith the LORD, (crucified: [Gen 22:2]), of (Christian) hosts.

Mal. 4:4 Remember ye, (Genesis 22:2;13), the (Torah) law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments(written in the Torah Shebiktav).

Mal. 4:5 Behold, (in 32 AD)I will send you (messiah ben Joseph), Elijah, the (suffering)prophet: [Ps 22:1], (to make straight the way) before the (second) coming of the great and dreadful day, (2K25 AD: Dan 12:12) of the LORD: (Messiah ben David, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David: [Rev 5:5]).

Mal. 4:6
And he, (Elijah/Christ)shall turn (the dogma of the old tradition), the heart of the fathers to the (insights of the) children (of God), and the heart (of the beliefs) of the children to (the truth of the Christian teachings) of their (fore-)fathers, (the earliest Christians), lest I come (with terrorism and sectarian violence: [Zech 14:13 ]) and smite the earth with a curse (of nuclear destruction: [Zech. 14:12]).

Matt. 17:1 And after six days, (on the seventh, preparing for his metamorphosis), Jesus, (aware the he was to be transformed back to a mere man), taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

Matt. 17:2 And was transfigured, (See the original Greek: "metamorphosed," as he emptied himself of the Holy Ghost of Elijah:[Matt 28:19]), right before them, (the soul of Elijah, now departing from him: [Ps 22:1]): and his face did shine as the sun, (as had the face of Moses in the presence of God, on the mountain), and his raiment was white as the light: [Rev 1:13-15].

17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them, (as if a mass hallucination: [Luke 9:27]), Moses and Elias, (visually, as though in their very presence)

Matt. 17:4 Then answered Peter to Jesus, (who was conversing with these angelics, ni.e.; Elias and Moses), and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us (to observe this psychic episode: [Luke 9:27]), to be here, (hearing you speak aloud): if thou wilt, let us make here, (in our presence of the kingdom of God), three (cube shaped) tabernacles, (Sukkots: [Zec 14]); one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias, (these to whom you speak).

Jesus was the son of Mary. But clearly, we read, he was not the son of Joseph. Mary was was related to Elizabeth, the wife of a Levite priest. The Levites were forbidden to marry except other Levites. Hence, Mary was a Levite, too, then.
Jesus, through Mary, was a levite, and through God, the messiah. However, traditional Jewish understanding long expected two messiahs.

The messiah ben Joseph would be followed by a messiah ben David.

The Christian understnding is that the messiah ben David is yet to appear in what they will recognize as The Second Coming. But, according to this, Jesus, then, was the "suffering messiah, ben joseph.

The MESSIAH SON OF JOSEPH in Jewish Tradition in later generations, (after 32AD, as expressed in the Talmud which was written 300 years after Christ), was taken to be a symbolic figure. The MESSIAH SON OF JOSEPH was understood to represent an historical process in which the Jewish people would return to their land and rebuild themselves by natural means. Later the MESSIAH SON OF DAVID would appear and impart a spiritual dimension to the physical-material political structure that the process represented by the MESSIAH SON OF JOSEPH had prepared.

However, in Jewish commentary, this does not nullify the belief that the MESSIAH SON OF JOSEPH is to be an actual person.
It merely supplements it.
It adds to it.
It helps us understand it both ways, as possible interpretations in the assumed absence of his appearance, according to the Jews.

In some sources the MESSIAH SON OF JOSEPH is called "The First Redeemer."
The "Second Redeemer" will be the Messiah son of David.
