Rev. 4:6   And before the throne, (the Scriptures), there was a sea of glass like unto crystal (full of prophecies): and in the midst of the throne, (the Scriptures), and round about the throne, (the Scriptures), were four beasts, (the Gospels), full of eyes before (preaching the future) and behind, (eye witness records of the past).

Rev. 4:7 And the first beast, (long represented as the Book of Mark), was like a lion, and the second beast, (represented as the Book of Luke), like a calf, and the third beast, (represented as the Book of Matthew), had a face as a man, and the fourth beast, (represented as the Book of John), was like a flying eagle: [Ezekiel 1:10]

Rev. 4:8 And the four beasts [Ezekiel 1:10] had each of them six wings about him, (one for each of the 24 Elders whom they, themselves, symbolized); and they were full of eyes within, (the gospel of the Oral Bible which had been passed down since Moses): and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God, Almighty (Reality)r, which was, and is, and is to come.

Rev. 4:9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, (Almighty Reality), who liveth for ever and ever,

Rev. 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, (Almighty Reality), and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

Rev. 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, (Almighty Reality), to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created,[Colossians 1:16].

(link explaining the 24 elders)

The drama described in Revelation 4 and Revelation 5 refers to twenty-four elders, who sit upon twenty-four seats.
The twenty-four seats, when symbolized as the canonized 24 books of the Old Testament, complement the concept that the four Gospels are also implied here.
Aaron had four sons, but only two lived long enough to have children. From this initial stock, 8 were chosen from the son and 6 from form the other, to be those priest who would read the daily Torah, as he would sit at the congregation, one priest following after the next.
