There is a concept in Judaism called the "Yetzer HaRah", which is the experience of being drawn towards self-centeredness,
of creating a "Nefesh HaBehaima" (animal-soul i.e., pure Libido), more than a Nefesh HaElokim (Divine soul, i.e., good Conscience),
and as such HaSahtan, the experience of emnity is often related to as one's Yetzer HaRah, or Selfishness.
This is, of course, diametrically opposite to what Crist taught in his commandment to love one another.
Christ instructed us to extend altruistic Charity to all other men, especially one's enemy.
